How to choose a mold processing machine?

There are many types of molds, and the working conditions of various molds vary greatly, and the failure modes are also different.

Mold processing has the following seven basic features:

       (1) High processing precision requirements A single mold is generally composed of a die, a punch and a mold base, and some may also be a multi-piece split module. Therefore, the combination of the upper and lower molds, the combination of the insert and the cavity, and the assembly between the modules require high processing precision. Precision molds often have dimensional accuracy of up to μm.

       (2) Complex shapes Some products, such as automobile covers, aircraft parts, toys, and household appliances, have a surface that is composed of a variety of curved surfaces. Therefore, the cavity surface of the mold is complicated. Some surfaces must be processed mathematically.

       (3) Small batches of molds are not produced in large quantities in batches, and in many cases they are usually only produced in one batch.

       (4) Multiple processes Many processes such as milling, boring, drilling, reaming and tapping are always used in the mold processing.

       (5) Repetitive production The use of the mold is long-lived. When the use of a mold exceeds its life, a new mold is replaced, so the production of the mold is often repetitive.

      (6) Profile processing Sometimes there is no pattern or data in the mold production, and it is necessary to carry out contour processing according to the actual object. This requires high precision and no distortion.

      (7) Excellent mold material and high hardness The main materials of the mold are mostly made of high-quality alloy steel, especially high-life molds, which are often made of Crl2, CrWMn and other Leysite steel. This type of steel has strict requirements from rough forging, processing and heat treatment. Therefore, the preparation of the processing technology can not be ignored, heat treatment deformation is also a problem that needs to be taken seriously in processing.

       In order to extend the life of the mold, it should be based on the working conditions of the mold and the failure mode of the mold. For example, the function of the numerical control system is strong, the precision of the machine tool is high, the rigidity is good, the thermal stability is good, and the contouring function is provided.
